Purpose of firmware 5.02
Would like to know the purpose of Firmware update 5.02. What it fixes and/or what it improves.

Wired 06-18-2012 09:00 PM

The changelog is at the bottom of each 5.02 firmware thread.

Sorry for my ignorance, but I don't see it. Could you give me the thread?. I have 2 Force GT 240 GB

It's on the Left Sidebar

It's also at the top of the sub-forum you're posting in (SSD Firmware Update).

I see the Firmware update, no problem. I don't see the description of improvements that are included on the update.

Scroll down, You should be able to see a changelog.

I see it, but is very minimal. I have found no GOOD description on what the upgrade does.

Due to NDA, that is the only information released by SandForce.

asamsing 06-19-2012 11:45 AM

According SandForce:
The firmware used on SandForce Driven SSDs is uniquely manufactured for each SSD OEM and system manufacturer, and for that reason any firmware updates created by SandForce are provided through them, not SandForce.

And with a NDA we get nothing.

NDA stands for Non-disclosure agreement.

A non-disclosure agreement (NDA), also known as a confidentiality agreement (CA), confidential disclosure agreement (CDA), proprietary information agreement (PIA), or secrecy agreement, is a legal contract between at least two parties that outlines confidential material, knowledge, or information that the parties wish to share with one another for certain purposes, but wish to restrict access to or by third parties. It is a contract through which the parties agree not to disclose information covered by the agreement. An NDA creates a confidential relationship between the parties to protect any type of confidential and proprietary information or trade secrets. As such, an NDA protects nonpublic business information.

I know what NDA mean, but if there is a firmware upgrade from 1.3.3 to 5.02 there should be a much better description on what the update does to see if it is applicable to your computer.

I demand a better release notes as well. Coming from a firmware (H/W & S/W) myself, end-users/customers are required to have a detailed release notes for each release that is available for download. I have a Force3 180GB drive.
