10 Good
  1. Nvidia Titan X H75 Besides the broken standoff on my first HG10, I could not get the cooler to make good contact, tried only hand tightening, varying tightness and order of tightness, idled at 32 and jumped up to 85 during games. Air cooler would top out at 81. I tried installing the H75 with both the Intel and AMD brackets, tried 4 times, making sure the thumbscrews were placed in a cross pattern. Never could get temps to stay under 80 at load.
  2. Good call, Loosened the top two (farthest from PCIE Slot) and tighten a bit the lower ones. Launched GTA Online, I mean games is what matters anyways right? Before on the Air cooler I was getting 81, before adjusting the screws I was getting 76-81, now it maxed at 66-68. I can live with that. Dead silent too. This is at 4k as well. Going to test out a few more games. EDIT: Temps shot up to 86 on Metal Gear....... I'm pretty much done with this thing.
  3. the blower on the HG10, The fans on the H75 are at a fixed 60%
  4. Just ran Uniengine Heaven Benchmark on Basic, temps went from 71 and at some points spiked up to 83 but were mostly in the high 70's. This is disappointing. Fan speeds maxed at 40%. I'm really not happy honestly. The cooler is still probably not making great contact, but if I tighten the thumbscrews anymore the standoffs will break like before. It is quieter though.
  5. Ok, second go around with the replacement bracket. Made sure to only tighten the screws very lightly, as soon as they stopped spinning easily I stopped, bend is minimal. Used AMD bracket of my H75 since the holes on the bracket are round and have less wiggle room that the Intel bracket. Used Artic Silver 5, thumbscrews were spun in a cross pattern just until they stopped spinning freely, then just a tad bit more. Turn on pc it's idling at 31, launched furmark in 1080p, and temps didn't shoot up to 85 as before, instead it was more of a gradual build up to 71. Better than before, and quiet. Was hoping it wouldn't go over 60, maybe the paste takes a while to settle in? A little hesitant to play a game, but going to give it a go and see temps. EDIT: Just played a bit of GTA 5 in 4k, and Temps went to 75. It's dead silent, but I was expecting more from this. There's no way Installed this thing wrong. I followed all the instructions, 75 is just 6 cooler than the stock air cooler on the titan x. It is quieter, but something is still off.
  6. Yeah, I've noticed that there hasn't been any corsair rep near this thread since the release and subsequent failed installations. I'm not feeling that confident about my replacement. I might just send everything back and be done with the n980. Then again everything can go right with the replacement and I might be a happy camper. Will have to give it another shot and see what happens.
  7. This is worrying me more and more. My first install did the same, idled at 32 but shot up to 85. I'm waiting for my RMA since one of the standoffs broke when installing the h75 cooler. I'm afraid the cooler won't make enough contact whether it's the pads the bending of the pcb or the stanoffs being too tall. Hoping the second try goes better.
  8. Just got my RMA approved, will try it again with the new bracket, taking it very easy on all the screws and standoffs.
  9. I have the stock Titan X. I'm going to give it one more try tonight, but if it doesn't work out I might just give up on the watercooled gpu dream.
  10. What card do you have? More likely than not the problem might be with the bracket not mounting tightly over the card, and that creates the gap between the cooler and the gpu die. I'd hate to go through the RMA process over the standoffs. I'm not looking forward to opening everything back up.
  11. I will still need to get a new standoff since one of them broke inside the hg10 bracket. I called corsair and they don't seem to have replacement parts for it. They recommended that I start a RMA process. I will try to see if it's the paste, but if I tighten any tighter the standoffs will snap like one already has.
  12. I'll take a look after work, but something is obviously wrong because the temps are shooting up as soon as a load is put on the gpu. The standoffs are also going to be a problem for many people I think. I'm afraid of removing and tightening them again because they can snap with little force, leaving the broken screw inside the bracket. It's been a disappointing experience so far, and added to that fact is that my thousand dollar graphics card is in the balance.
  13. I also snapped one of the standoff screws. I changed brackets to the AMD and was able to use a washer and standoff that came with the h75. I don't think it'll work though because it idles at 32 degrees, but any load on the gpu and it shoots up in temperature up to 85. I don't think the cooler is sitting flush, and I think I might need to repaste because the paste on the h75 smeared when I snapped the standoff screw. I will need to get a replacement standoff as well. It was a pain to put in and will be a pain to take out to fix.\ The gpu board is also bending a bit.
  14. Got a surprise at work today! It's on after work today. Will post before and after temps of card as well as vram on the top of the Titan X. Excited!
  15. No wrong doing on Corsair's part, but USPS is taking forever to get the package to me. Ordered on 28th shipped 29th on Priority 2 day, was scheduled to arrive Saturday the 31st, shows it's in town, today says it will arrive tomorrow. It feels like I'll never get my hand on the n980, lol. I've waited for a while I can wait one more day. So ready to get this installed already.
