  1. So I have the same problem. Just bought the chair on sale. The chair itself is good quality but the base and gas piston are an issue for me. I was able to to remove the base with a rubber mallet (remove from the chair first!!!) and used plastic sleeves to increase the thickness of the tapered piston at the bottom. Believe it or not i used a sleeve for my cable routing on my desktop. It fit perfectly into the hole of the chair base and thus prevented the piston from bottoming out. The fix took about 20min.
