endon
Hi. So I've owned this PSU for quite some time now and never had any problems with it. A couple of years back, when I started pushing my Q6600 I noticed a considerable drop on the 12V supply. I've attached a screenshot with the values. They drop a bit further to 11.40V when in load, either gaming or benchmarking. Is this withing the expected operating limits? Thanks in advance.http://i.imgur.com/lkVYm.png
zsde
The tolerances vor PSUs on the 12V rail are +12VDC ± 5% min +11.400 VDC and the max+12.600 VDC If we have to believe CPUID then you are near the lower limit, but that software may not be reporting the true value. Ideally, even if its in idle for an initial test, use a digital multimeter to measure across the 12V PCIE connector. That reading should confirm if CPUID is anywhere close. If that happens not to be the case, i.e. the voltages are closer to 12, then its time to check the 12V rail whilst the system is under load. Get a PC shop to assist you if you don't have a DMM. Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted October 29, 2012 Corsair Employee Share Posted October 29, 2012 I would suggest using the Health monitoring software that came with the MB when in Windows if you dont have access to the VOM Meter. Third Party software can be reporting incorrectly.
