k70 rgb Driver issues - any alternative drivers?

Gents I've a problem with my k70; namely that its drivers only work until a restart after installation.

After a restart the special keys all stop working (i.e. the media keys, most notably).

The support - after a lengthy conversation and proving I've got a product, - could not help.

I'm wondering;

- is there any way to debug this, somehow?

- are there any alternative drivers one can try?

It has started a few months back, btw, when a windows update did something nasty (win7) and ****ed around with my windows big time (I guess this is microsoft's way of trying to force people off a perfectly working OS)
