kyzersoze
I can connect the PSU to the board (24-pin and 12V) with one stick of memory installed, short out the power switch pins and the system will power up. However, if I add anything else to the mix -- another stick of RAM, case fans, HDD, anything -- then I get nothing when I try to power up. No clicking, beeping, lights, nothing. Once I confirmed that the PSU was delivering power to the board I assumed it wasn't large enough to power the entire system. My plan was to see how much I could connect and still get the system to power up. But when I discovered that I couldn't even add another 2GB of memory I started wondering if maybe I got a bad power supply. So I guess I have a couple of questions (maybe three). 1. Is my troubleshooting strategy faulty? 2. Should I be able to run this system using the CX400 PSU? 3. If I do need a bigger PSU, how big is big enough? Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted March 16, 2011 Corsair Employee Share Posted March 16, 2011 The PSU is big enough, and your troubleshooting is on the right track. It sounds like there is a short somewhere. I would remove the board from the case and bench test the system to see if you are able to get farther when reconnecting your additional devices.
