Void Wireless auto shutoff while in use

I have the Void wireless (not pro) and have been using them for almost 3 years now. I had this problem in the past but it hasn't happened in probably a year. When I am actively using the headphones it will go into automatic shutoff. I can go into cue and disable automatic shutoff and if fixes the issue so its not an end of the world situation. Just thought it was odd that they randomly started doing this again yesterday despite the fact I haven't changed anything in a few weeks. software is version 3.23.66, firmware is 39.02. battery was at 90% when it started yesterday. I was about 1 hour into a movie and the voice prompt came up warning me that it was going to shutoff. Also noticed that normally if I have the headphones charging they never shutoff, but even with them plugged in and charging it still does the automatic shutoff.
