What is going on?

Hi guys,

 

New here, bought two sticks from this model yesterday. I've reinstalled my system, made the two work in raid0 on my tuf z370-pro gaming motherboard. Set the speed to x16 (if I'm correct), turned off pcie link state power management.

Formatted two partitions on my drives, a C and a D, and this is the C drive test attached screenshot.

I can't seem to upgrade my firmware with the toolbox either.

My box was yellow.

Am I doing something wrong or I should bring it back cause this is faulty models?

Removed raid.

Firmware is the latest on the drives.

In bios my pcie is on 8x, other SSDs disconnected. M.2 is set to pcie mode.

Reinstalled windows on single m.2 drive.

disk mark still shows max 3500MBps.

Is this the max or could be my Asus tuf z370-pro gamer playing jokes on me?

What is it you did set on PCIE 8x ? the M2 ports only go up to 4x.

3500 mb/s is the maximum for one drive, so that's correct.

Remember your motherboard supports PCIE 3.0 so the drives won't reach higher speeds.

Now in Raid 0, it should add up i imagine, but i never tried it on NVME drives..

The first one closest to the CPU is connected directly to it.

The second one connects through the PCH.

This is the one that has shared bandwidth with SATA ports.

 

Is this one too set to PCIE instead of Auto?

NVMe RAID might not work well (or at all) if you try to build a RAID array with a drive that's connected to the PCIe lanes coming directly from the CPU and a drive that gets its PCIe lanes from the PCH. Generally NVMe RAID on a mainstream motherboard will use a PCIe 16x add in card that you would mount the M.2 drives to.

 

The single drive performance on PCIe 3.0 you're reporting looks fine to me (limitation of a platform that only has PCIe 3.0 instead of PCIe 4.0).
