Laptop won't start with upgraded ram.

Hi all, i recently purchased Corsair's Vengeance ddr3 16gb ram set, for my Toshiba S70t-a running a Intel i7-4700, geforce gt740m. After I installed the new ram and turn on all it did was light up the keyboard then turn off again. I went through the process of working both of the slots individually but makes no difference. The original 8gb ram has to be on it's own for the laptop to boot up. Have I missed something with compatibility? Any help will be really appreciated.
