How to replace earpads on HS50/HS70

With how basic those instructions are, its impressive how difficult it is to get these new ear pads on. 44/53 people found the article not helpful. -
Silly question, but I have 2 corsair headsets. HS50 and HS70. The foam earpads need to be replaced, but I can't figure out how to take the old ones off. Am I missing something obvious? I'm also waiting for them to come back in stock.
