I recently purchased a 4000D Airflow and an h100i Elite Capellix cooler. My motherboard is an Asus Rog Strix b550 F Wi Fi.
The h100i comes with two 120mm ML RGB fans with 8 LEDs. These specific fans don't seem to be for sale yet. It also comes with a Commander Core. The Commander Core has six slots for RGB control and six slots for RPM fan control.
I am looking to purchase four 120mm case fans for my 4000D, 3 in the front and 1 in the back. I am hoping to be able to sync the RGB from all 6 fans and also be able to control the RPM.
From what I understand, if I buy four ML RGB fans, all six fans should be able to connect to the Commander Core. iCUE should be able to control RGB and RPM even though the older ML fans only have 4 LEDs.
But I am wondering if the LL or QL fans are an option for me. The triple fan packs comes with a Lighting Core that can control RGB for up to six fans (but does not control RPM). I've read you can't mix fans from different series on the same lighting channel, and I'm unsure if that means that the Commander Core and Lighting Core would be on different channels.
Could someone please have a look at this theoretical setup and tell me whether or not they think it will work:
Lighting Core:
Two RGB cables from AIO ML fans
Commander Core:
Four RGB cables from LL / QL fans
Four RPM/PWM cables from LL / QL fans
Two RPM/PWM cables from AIO ML fans
Thanks for your help 🙂
