Can anyone please help?

When I startup my Dell Laptop, there is a BIOS password prompt. I type it out on my k70lux, and the keys show up (albeit circles), and when I submit, it fails. Then I type it out on my laptop's keyboard, and it works. Why does it only work on the laptop? The k70 works fine otherwise.
