Chaintech ZNF3-150 - Corsair VSIGBKIT400

Recommended Posts

I have a Chaintech ZNF3-150 MB and Corsair VSIGBKIT400 memory (1GB).

I'm running the AMD Athlon 64 3000 CPU.

I have this sympton with my configuration that is strange.

At first boot the memory reports in at 400Mhz which correct.

After the operating system (Win 2K) is functional I run the Sandra utility to verify the speed of the ram and it reports in at 200Mhz.

My timing parameters are all set to Auto and that part appears to be right

because at boot the proper speed is indicated (400Mhz).

So what do you think is happening when the operating system is running.

Could the Sandra report be in error. I don't have any other bench utilities

to test with.

Thanks

Welcome to the forums, Metasys!

In all reality, it's DDR400 and 200MHz, the "DDR" means "Double Data Rate" so the memory is actually running on a 200MHz frequency, but sends/recieves data on both the up-stroke and down-stroke of the cycle, making it an effective 400MHz.

What that means is BOTH are reporting correctly!

I have TwinX1024-3200XLPRO memory and my CPU-Z says 200.5MHz.

Yes I am aware of the DDR designation and what it implies.

In the past the Sandra Utility has reported "2X" & "200Mhz" for memory

which was 100Mhz DDR on my old MB. That's why I was in doubt.

Thanks for the response and the links.
