Screwed? Corsair 200mhz ram and Asus M5A99FX Pro R2.0

I recently purchased a new motherboard and intended to use my older ram. Having run the system for about a month allowing the bios to set the ram up I noticed my ram was being handled as 1066.

Attempts to get this ram running properly have failed and I am now getting the dreaded BSOD in Win 8.1 (much nicer than previous BSOD's I might add).

After researching the memory, I have found it is not listed for my motherboard.

Am I out of luck or is it possible to get this running properly?

Thanks

So what settings does D.O.C.P. try to use?

Does D.O.C.P. into XMP settings work with only two modules installed?

Maybe we can take that as a starting point to adjust timings and voltages manually.

To clarify this: There is no memory divider for DDR3-2000 on AM3, that is Intel specific. While you can get DDR3-2133 and DDR3-2400 out of an FX, you will most of the time be limited to one module per channel. With four modules there often is manual tweaking needed to get more than DDR3-1600 or DDR3-1866 out of those processors and some just can't do it. That circumstance is also hinted at in AMDs official specifications for the memory controller:

Not real familiar with CPU-Z. Does it appear to you to be running correctly?

Looks okay. Is it stable? You could change trc to 51 to match the XMP profile, but if it's stable there would be no need to mess with it.

CPUz is pretty easy to read. The SPD tab is just static information from the modules. That page will never change. The Memory tab shows you your current configuration.

I will need to purchase 2x 8GB sticks ASAP, can you guys recommend something that will work best for me?

Any of Corsairs current DDR3 kits would be compatible. I would stay with either Vengeance, vengeance Pro's, Or the Dominator line for your system. Any of those would run great.

I don't know about prices outside of europe, but over here the CMY16GX3M2A2133C11® is a decent bang for buck kit out of the corsair lineup. The Platinum CMD16GX3M2A2133C9 and CMD16GX3M2A2400C10 cost quite a bit more but have a very unique look, if you're into that :D:

(Of course the chance of getting there trouble free is higher with lower specced kits... but theres no need to go below DDR3-1600 really.)

ASUS UEFI doesn't show TRC settings, can you explain?

Is it saying an FX can only run 2 sticks of 1866?

yes, this is not the fault of the ram.

it appears he is running into the AMD memory controller limitation. the last cpu-z is for 2 sticks if i understand correctly.

regardless of what brand he gets running 4 sticks at 2000 may be futile.

The max bandwidth on CPU-Z says 533mhz. Does this mean it cannot run faster than 533 no matter what ?

This Max Bandwidth entry is generated from the fastest JEDEC profile provided by your current memory. It does not reflect available XMP settings the modules might have additionally, that are needed for basically* anything over DDR3-1600.

*since nobody uses JEDEC DDR3-1866 CL13 ever

If you're running into trouble with your new kit again, that may be because of the newer Micron ICs Crucial uses on most of their current kits. We hat quite a few reports about incompatibilities from users with AMD mainboards at my home forum (XMP not working, no stability beyond DDR3-1600 and so on...).

Good luck with these anyways!

I'm confused. The OP has Corsair memory right now, not Crucial. Crucial RAM issues don't apply in this case. Also, XMP is never guaranteed to work with any AMD system so again, that does not apply here.
