Kronikal
My old 8GB ram was dying so my brother got me the 2x4GB 8GB kit CMZ8GX3M2A1600C11B. Cant get past windows 7 loading screen, the dots don't even swirl. I've tweaked BIOS (latest update) some going off what i've read on other threads IE setting timing 11/11/11/30, 9/9/9/24 slighting turning up voltage to no avail. Am i missing anything? or should i just have my brother return it?
wytnyt
have you tried resetting your bios?
peanutz94
Do you have the latest BIOS for your MB? If not please flash to the latest version and enable the XMP profile. This memory may be incompatible with your system because of the CPU you have. but lets try to get it to run first. What are the version number on the modules? Kronikal
I've reset the bios twice first with jumper second by removing battery. Both times date reset so i assume it worked. My bios is the latest version, I couldn't find XMP profile in setting but the tech specs at http://www.corsair.com/us/catalog/product/view/id/1215/s/vengeance-8gb-2x4gb-dual-channel-ddr3-memory-kit-cmz8gx3m2a1600c11b/category/80/ says it has no performance profile. Does that mean it doesn't have XMP? The version on the sticks are 5.
peanutz94
They will have an XMP profile and it can be found in the advanced overclocking settings for your board. You might also consider testing the memory one stick at a time with memtest86+ to see if you have a failing module first. But with an I3 CPU you need to have memory with no larger than 256MB IC's. Version 5.20 are 512MB IC's making them too large for the sytem to use. So if they both pass memtest and the XMP profile does nothing to help, then it may be best to return the memory. Most if not all of Corsairs memory is going to be made with the larger IC's so you may have a hard time finding Corsair memory to run on that system. Thank u for ur help Yes, they are 256IC's. that information can be found here in the DDR3 Inquery. http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?t=68811 Okay, lets try one last thing. With the XMP enabled, try manually setting the DIMM voltage to 1.55v and then 1.6v if 1.5v doesn't allow you to boot to windows normally. If your old ones are going bad they can be RMA'd. Corsair memory has a lifetime warranty.
