krishcanag
Hello everyone and merry X'mas. I got a new AX760i PSU after my HX650 blew so connected it as follows to my Gigabyte EP45 mobo. 10 + 14 pin connectors to 24pin ATX on PSU and other end to 24pin on mobo. Now (the issue) there is 2 cables with a CPU printed label on it, I connected the CPU label side to mobo 8 pin connector and the other end with a printed label TXM/HX/AXi to PSU just below the 24pin ATX connector, connector 3 (right hand side). It has a confusing printed label above it saying 6+2 PCI-E & 4+4 CPU. Now when I on'ed it smoke came from the mobo I think. removed everything and checked PSU with self test, all ok, so can someone confirm I have connected it correctly? Also all other PSU connections I have from HHD, drives all seem to be PCI-E only, nothing with 6+2 PCI-E. thanks krish

Your saying the previous PSU blew on the same board and now this PSU smoked the board? Two PSU's on the same board really looks like the board went first or the first PSU damaged the board when it blew. It's hard to say, but i would request an RMA for the PSU or return it to your resellers for a swap.
krishcanag
thanks peanutz94 I have ordered another mobo and stuff as I was just waiting for a reason to upgrade anyway. As long as I have connected the main 2 cables correctly then the issue as you say looks like my old mobo is also damaged. I did re-connect the old PSU to check and noticed that with the old one, no LED's light up on mobo while with the new one it does but on switch on the new PSU clicks and LED on it turns RED, self test after disconnection is green and fan spins. so I dont think the new PSU is faulty but the old mobo is also damaged, so will try on the new Z87 mobo as see. regards krish
