klaatu
I bought a pair of 8GB Vengeance Pro CMY16GX3M2A1866C9 sticks for my new build - i7 4770k with a GA-Z87X-UD4H motherboard. I'm not overclocking (yet). I started getting strange crashes, so ran some stress tests, which failed. The memory was being run at 1600 by default, and changing it to 1866 using XMP didn't help. I tried slots 1 and 3 and also 2 and 4. I have some 1600 Mhz Vengeance memory (4x4GB) so I installed those, and the stress tests run fine. I tried putting in the Vengeance Pro one stick at a time; one stick runs the stress tests OK, and the other fails almost immediately. It seems clear to me that one stick is bad, but before I return it/them, I though I should ask here to see if anyone has anything to suggest that I can try first?
