hp501
I've installed an H80i to cool an 4770K on an Asus Maximus Impact board. The performance of the cooler is not as good as I expected. After about 5mins on the small fft test (this gives the highest temps) on Prime 95 at stock clocks I am getting temps in the high 80's. I've tried reseating the cooler with MX-4 paste to no avail. The default voltage supplied by the board at load is higher than I expected (1.23v). Is this a factor? The pump temp is just under 36 at this point. Is the cooler performing normally? The board came with some washers for cooler backplates. Do I need to use these and reinstall the cooler?
wytnyt
your temps are a little on the high side .,id recheck the paste again and check to see if the cooler x bracket isnt upside down, the little niches on the inner legs face up...

I installed the backplate so that the two notches let the two screws of the socket through. Can't imagine the plate is upside down as surely the posts won't screw in then.
