Exposed
Hello, I'm new to the forum and I was wondering if I could get some advice. I would greatly appreciate it! I have 3 corsair neutron ssd's, one 128gb for my boot drive and 2 256gb for my raid 0. After installing windows 8 i noticed the speed's weren't that of expected and noticed my error of plugging them into sata 2 instead of sata 3. My motherboard only has 2 Intel Sata 3 ports so I plugged in the raid to take advantage of the z77 trim support for raid 0. I went to plug the 128 gb into the marvell controlled sata 3 and the system wouldn't put so I was forced to put it back in the sata 2 intel slot. Now for the questions. Is there a way I can get the 128gb drive to work in the marvell 6gb/s slot on the mobo? What speeds should i be expecting with the corsair neutron 256's in raid 0? I noticed in the windows 8 disk optimizer my raid 0 is showing as a hard disk and not a solid state, any way to fix this? Thanks for any help you can provide! Toasted
Unless there are compatibility issues, you should be able to get the SSD to work with the Marvell Controller. Have a look in the BIOS and see if you can get it to work. Though there has been known issues with the Marvell controller with SSDs. If the RAID0 Array is on the SATA III 6.0Gb/s you should see numbers approximately near 900-1000MB/s range in ATTO. But it will vary.
Exposed
Thanks for the info! With AS SSD I'm getting 853.50 mb/s Reads and 785.31 mb/s writes on the raid 0. The problem with the single ssd I installed windows on it when it was in an Intel port then tried switching it I think? I tweaked with the bios a bit but it didn't seem to watch to boot. Any idea why my raid array is showing as a hard disk in the windows 8 disk optimizer? (Defrag window)
Toasted
The AS SSD results seem to be fine. But if you are experiencing any performance issues, run a ATTO benchmark as that is what Corsair uses for their advertised speeds. Refer to your motherboard's user manual for the BIOS. It's possible the Marvell controller is not configured properly or the SSD is not in the boot order list. Not sure why Windows 8 is showing it as a HD. If its scheduled to defrag the drive, turn it off.
