tpbarratt
[uPDATE: Corsair replaced the fans without any fuss. Great service, great company] Hi guys, just signed up to ask if anyone else has encountered the same problem I have had today. On attempting to remove screws from an AF120 fan I found that 1 out of the 4 screws wasn't budging. Struggerling to remove the screw (as the rubber insert was twisting - counter productive in my efforts) I turned to my set of pliers. After some blood sweat and tears it eventually came out... http://i.imgur.com/Eld7xVN.jpg http://i.imgur.com/mZLQV9w.jpg Not what I was expecting of Corsair product quality IMHO. I've used quite a few packs of the SP120 and a few of these AF120 before and never experienced this. Looking forwards to your comments. tpbarratt
We just tried using the spare AF120 (from the twin pack) and again...the screws seem too large for the screw holes. After a little more digging I'm not the only one with the problem. http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?p=24552641 http://forum.corsair.com/v2/showthread.php?p=639446 I have raised a support ticket and yet to hear from corsair on this issue. brillobaby
I ran into a similar problem and put together an Unofficial AF/SP Series Fan Installation Guide in another thread.
peanutz94
A drop of dish washing soap on the screws and they go right in. All you need is something for a little lubricant.
tpbarratt
A drop of dish washing soap on the screws and they go right in. All you need is something for a little lubricant. Sorry but if it takes an additional "lubricant" to force these screws in then I would deem the product not fit for purpose. I work in product quality and if we had to offer bodges to ensure the product actually functions as intended. I would be embarrassed. I will not be paying for the privy of returning the faulty products. The cost of carriage to the netherlands on a recorded delivery is going to be 60-70% of the actual cost of the fans... I would be a fool to continue with this RMA. I can imagine if I was returning a power supply or memory modules etc. the cost would be justifiable but for a twin pack of fans....never. I am very disappointed in how this has unfolded and would struggle to recommend the corsair brand in the future.
tpbarratt
Just an update. I RMA'd the fans and received my replacements the very next day! Wow! I can confirm that Corsair are extremely helpful, Henry offered first class service. Throughout the whole process I've felt they have gone beyond the call of duty to help me. Thank you Corsair! themiked
I am LIVID about this! I drove 45 mins to buy six of these fans and NONE of the screws fit! Not even with a lubricant! How can Corsair continue to ship this defective product? Even if they send me new screws I have to wait several days for them to get here and I can't finish my build. This is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. Shame on Corsair. What a crock.
