Cozy2522
Well I just finished building my new PC, went to start it up with just the power cable attached and when I did the PSU immed popped with a flash and I immediately unplugged it. That being said would my PSU now be fried along other parts possibly? I'm planning on starting the RMA on it but I'm not sure if I should do RMA anything else as I don't have a different PSU to test anything. Here are the parts of the PC, most are new- Psu- RM 650 brand new Mobo- gigabyte 990fxa ud3 brand new Cpu- and fx8320 brand new Cooler -corsair h100i brand new Ram- 8gb from previous PC If any other info is needed I will provide it. Thanks. Edit: forgot to say this was in my new corsair 500r case, if that helps at all
Insomniack
Are you certain there are no shorts anywhere in the wiring, or the motherboard isn't earthing somewhere? And the only way you'll know if the other parts are affected or not is by running them.
peanutz94
Definatly start an RMA and DO NOT use that PSu anymore. If you indeed have damaged hardware you can respond back to your ticket and request a damage claim form.

I put my ram, HDD and GPU back in my old PC and all it does upon startup is give a black screen.
peanutz94
i'm not sure how to tell you to proceed. You can only get reimbursed for damaged hardware by RMA'ing directly through Corsair. So if you haven't sent it off yet, it might be something to reconsider. I put my ram, HDD and GPU back in my old PC and all it does upon startup is give a black screen You'll need to try to isolate which components is bad. Or send them all off to Corsair and they can test them along with the PSu.

I thought about that about an hour after I dropped it off at ups, it turns out my GPU is fine but my 2 sticks of g skill ram are toast. Luckily they have lifetime warranty so I'm going to RMA it and see what happens.
