I have 2 sets of ddr3 tr3x6g1333c9 on a i7 rampage iii formula.

my issue is the system will shut down for no reason and when trying to post after that it shuts off and on untill i finally remove the power cord and remove the memory chips and reinstall them.

most the time i only have to do this one time . some times i fight with it for hours.

this did this in my old system but i put in a new psu, i7, motherboard, ssd, and cooling system. all that is left is the dram chips.

I noticed that the memory is posting at 1066 not 1333

is there something i need to do in the bios.

i have tested with memtest with all 12 gig in and it ran for a hour and a half and everything looked ok .

Being Christmas i cant get a hold of tech support to get them to rma it or tell me what i need to do.

any help would be great.

try resetting your BIOS to defaults then manually either enable the 1333 profile if there is a setting for that or input the timings and voltage yourself.

also combining 2 sets of ram is not officially supported. are the versions the same?

if they pass memtest i dont think the ram is your boards issue.

It's not memory related. Or at least doesn't seem to be. MB or PSU but not memory.

memory will default to it's lowest speed when first installed until changed otherwise. You will need to set them manually or enable the XMP profile.

The only other suggestion i can make to possibly get both kits to run together would be to give your QPI voltage a bit more.

Check to see what the XMP profile is setting the QPI voltage to. It should be about 1.35v and you can safely raise that to 1.45v but no higher. If it is lower than 1.35v , then start there. And make sure DIMM voltage is at 1.65v
