funkyman50
I just opened up a brand new Vengeance 2100 after RMAing a 2000 for intermittent crackling audio. It would happen during Skype, or watching YouTube, or watching a movie. I had had the headset for nearly a year with no problems and suddenly just about a two months ago the speakers started to crackle at random times. There had been no change in my setup that might have prompted this so I figured it was probably just the speakers going bad. RMA went smoothly. Just today I received a 2100 in return and I immediately notice the same exact problem so I reinstalled my driver and nothing changed. I'm just stopping in hoping to get some help troubleshooting this problem. From everything I've read it looks like it's probably software related, but there aren't too many posts specifically talking about the 2100. Toasted
Test the headset on another computer. Does the audio still crackle?
funkyman50
Most definitely. Using my laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium and the most up to date Skype and 2100 Driver. The crackling is pretty apparent.
Toasted
Can you try this. It is recommend that if you are experiencing any sound issues, please ensure the following: Open your Control Panel. Click on Sound. Right click on your Vengeance headset. Select Properties. Select the Advanced tab. Ensure the Default Format is at 16bit, 48000hz (DVD Quality). Click Apply. JeffreyK
I am also having these issues. Just opened the box and unpacked a new 2100 and when watching a movie during intense action scenes I get a brutal digital crackle, its really gutting. Playing with drivers and settings but so far nothing seems to fix it.
Sycobob
Ditto here. I've gotten severe popping and cracking from the moment I plugged them in. I've tested multiple software versions, uninstalling the headset software, multiple computers, multiple physical environments, multiple audio property configurations, checked DPC latency. I have a pair of G930s that have worked flawlessly in the same environment for months. I started an RMA process through Newegg as a result. I have to believe this is a hardware issue or there are some serious problems with this headset. Here's hoping it's just some bad luck.
JeffreyK
I found the fix for my issue, which is related to Toasted's response, thank you. I use Daum Player for my movies and it appears to override the audio output and it was not at 48000hz, selecting that settings manually in Daum has fixed the issue and it now sounds crystal clear. JeffreyK
Nevermind, still having issues with Daum Player, but for me that seems to be the only app having issues at the moment. Games, VLC and google music all sound fine so far.
funkyman50
I feel like with this many people having the same issue it has got to be software related. I set the audio to 16bit, 48000hz (DVD Quality) on my laptop and it seems to have improved it *slightly* (it's still there, but not as bad or as loud). It was already set to that on my desktop, which is where I actually want to use it and it was pretty bad there regardless of that setting.
