Hindsight
Is the HX750W not a quality power supply? I bought one a year or so ago and loved it while it worked. Made my case nice and clean. Was quiet too. However, after about a year it started causing random crashes. Swapped it out with an older 750w PC Power & Cooling I had in my closet and the problem went away. I did the RMA for the HX750w and the process was quick and easy, but the new unit lasted only ONE MONTH! Went to turn my computer on the other day, hit the power button, and the computer would light up for about one second and then turn off for 3, then on for 1, off for 3, repeat indefinitely. Put the PC Power & Cooling back in, turned on and worked fine. I submit an RMA several days ago (6307038) but have heard nothing back. Are these power supplies problematic? I'd hate for another to go bad and take out any of my components in the process. Is there any other Corsair power supply model that is more reliable or should I just go for another brand? JKeifer
Why not just keep the PC Power & Cooling in place? It's probably not modular and may make your installation less attractive because of it but it's tried and true and quite reliable. I personally am not a fan of modularity because I feel that the lower parts count contributes to higher reliability although I am currently using a PC Power & Cooling 850 in one of my systems and I will continue to use that brand exclusively. I am not sure if the quality will remain the same now that OCZ has purchased them but we'll see. Also, just to be fair, check out the OCZ support page and you'll see much the same type of complaints from users of their products. Finally, I suspect not many folks who frequent here would recommend another brand of power supply.
