rattlesnake5757
I did self test in the beginning and it passed. Second try failled(Note this is with cables plugged in). I tried plugging in one cable at a time and trying the self test. The last cable i tried was the ATX cable 24bin (20+4). I'm not sure what to do now. Do i need to send it back for a new one or does the self test not work when the atx cable is plugged in.
JKeifer
That's a question not answered in the power supply's manual. Although the manual doesn't specifically say not to connect cables, the one blurb implies that the self test is conducted prior to hooking up any cables. Does the power supply work in the computer? If the power supply works and the functions in Link work, I suspect it's by design not to work with all the cables connected. For me I am not sure of the value of the self test unless there are loads of power supplies that can fail after QA/QC testing during boxing, shipment and unpacking prior to installation. I would use the self test maybe once and as a novelty. Also, the self test cannot test the power supply at full load so it probably just checks the presence and within tolerance status of the voltages. Then again, I am not much of a modder or tweaker so may not have the complete picture of the purpose other than an engineer's Christmas wish-list of functions. peanutz94
The self test can be run ONLY with NO CABLES attached to the PSU. Are you having some sort of issue with the PSU that your concerned about the self test?
rattlesnake5757
@ Peanutz94 No real issue or concern. Just wanted to know if this was a problem. The more i thought about it. Brings me to think i was just over thinking it. I just wanted to know that it was working right.
