Kerplunk
Edit: Question answered. I needed to get into the sound section under control panel. I was wondering if there was a way to leave the usb plugged into the computer and still use the PC speakers. There are times when I dont need to wear the headset. jadefoot
I'm having the same issue, I have to unplug the usb in order for my speakers to work again. I tried going into Control Panel > Sound section and found that the headset had become the default device. I changed it back to my speakers but now the headset has no sound. thomja
You right click on the little sound icon in the bottom right corner next to the clock, go to playback devices and once in there you set the disered speaker as a default device. That is how you switch between them. Get used to it lol

After digging around for a bit I found one called Soundswitch: http://blog.contriving.net/2009/05/04/a-hotkey-to-switch-between-headphones-and-speakers-soundswitch/ Tried it out and works like a charm, super easy, hope this helps any others having this issue.
