JT h100i
just purchased an h100i last week and the fans are emitting a constant grinding sound at any RPM (they appear to be the PWM version). Given that the rest of my system is so quiet (including the pump) this really needs to be fixed. Anyone else notice this or have a solution? Note: radiator mounted vertically. Running firmware 1.05 and link 2.
wytnyt
have you checked to confirm their indeed 4 pin pwm fans.older stock may in fact have 3 pin fans.have you tried disconnecting one fan to isolate if the noise is only in one fan?
JT h100i
they definitely have a 4-pin connector. I have disconnected both separately and together, but the noise comes from both. Tried by connecting to the MB and increasing the RPM, yet it persists
wytnyt
if the noise is still persistent even when connected to the m/b then the fans must have a problem of some kind.you can submit a rma and request a replacement set of fans be sent to you... JT h100i
thanks for the advice, will do. Just find it hard to believe that its both fans (verified over tightening wasn't the problem either)
Diechel
I have tested 6 corsair PWM fans (the ones which come with the H100i) and there is much difference in quality of them. They all make a rattling/grinding noise and some make a weird bearing noise when you hang them upsidedown or move them a bit in the air. Also i have some sound tracks from them, if you want them i can post them So i ended up buying expensive noctua's which are lovely right now. They are connected to my H100i
wa3pnt
I also changed over to Noctua NF-F12 PWM fans on the H100i and the case input. Very pleased with their operation and noise level, and controllable with Corsair LINK. RodeoGeorge

WinSomeLoseNone
The stock H100i fan grinding is a well-known issue. Do some Googling, you'll see it all over. One of my fans has the same issue. I RMAd a silent H100 with a bad fan controller and received an H100i with one fan making a grinding noise. On top of that I can't use the Link software in 8.1... Talk about a downgrade.
KILLER_K
It is indeed sad to see no support for windows 8.1 here for their products. But I see this on everyone's products. It seems windows 8.1 has knocked everyone out. Now we have windows 8.2 coming out. I can imagine what will happen then. The stock H100i fan grinding is a well-known issue. Use the registry edits for 8.1....works perfectly
