Jstrat31
I juts purchased a H55, if I plug the pump into the pWR_fan header it's quite but shows as only running at 1500rmp. Is this a normal speed?? If I attached it to a molex to fan adapter it makes the worts grinding noise I've ever heard. Same if I put if in any other fan header with the fan control setting turned off. The pump should be able to run max all the time Without issue. Do I have a defective unit?? Thanks
peanutz94
What MB are you using? I plug the pump into the pWR_fan header it's quite but shows as only running at 1500rmp. Should be about 2200 rpms.
Jstrat31
Well I feel quite stupid for this, but the cause of the noise was the fan warning I set on my motherboard. It went off when I switched fan headers. .... But the unit does only registers 1500 rpm from the pump. If I put the fan in the same header it will spin at 17000 Rpms with the voltage regulation off. Should the pump be faster?? It's the quite edition H55
semperaye
I'm having the same issue with mine. It sounds exactly like a cross between a Red Squirrel and a Wood Pecker lol! If I turn my tower on its side the sound will go away so it must be an air bubble. It's been almost a month and I've left the tower on its side all night while running a couple times, but the sounds always returns. The bottom two screws to the pump are about level with the radiator in my case, so its not like the pump is below the radiator so I'm not sure how air got inside. My motherboard is the fm2+ g1.sniper a88x and it does have an option for manual operation of the fans, but no matter what setting I use the pump remains at 1496-1503 rpm. Tech support told me to try other fan headers and such, but that didn't help. I'm currently still messing with it before I send away for a new one... semperaye
UPDATE: Tech support told me to try plugging the pump into a 3 pin fan header on my mb..I ended up finally finding one to plug it into that wasn't 4 pin. After about 30 minutes after doing so the noise gradually went away, it's been a few hours now and it's almost quite. You will not be able to tell the fan speed on a 3 pin connector, the 4th pin on the others is what allows you to monitor and change its speed. semperaye
Noise is back again :(
semperaye
noise seemed to go away after re-mounting the cooler to the cpu...not sure why.
wytnyt
it could have been a air bubble perhaps?
semperaye
I think so because the noise is now back, somehow air is getting in....
wytnyt
I think so because the noise is now back, somehow air is getting in.... air cannot get in as its a sealed system however is it possible you moved or shook the computer?,,these coolers arent completely full to allow for expansion and a jar will shake things up. semperaye
It's gotten louder like a wood pecker trying to get out of my case, maybe its not air just a bad pump.
equlizer34
Sounds like its time to replace or RMA it if still under warranty.
Insomniack
It's gotten louder like a wood pecker trying to get out of my case, maybe its not air just a bad pump. Air in the system doesn't make that kind of noise. And air should work its way through fairly quickly and not be an issue. Try gently pushing on the pump in different spots and see if the noise changes.
semperaye
Well...I received the replacement today hooked it all up and right from the start had the same noise. Like a rattle/clicking coming from the radiator. It went away for after a few minutes, then it came right back and has remained for a number of hours now. This time, when I lay the case on its side the sound remains, however if I tilt the case 45 degrees the sound stops. VERY disappointed :(
Insomniack
Are you sure it's installed correctly and/or the noise isn't from somewhere else? It's highly unlikely that two coolers would have the exact same problem.

semperaye
its coming from the radiator on both the old one and the new one. Note i have the a88x g1sniper fm2+ mb and i have the cpu fan set to full speed. but it only runs around 1500rpm not sure if that is the prob. Insomniack
It sounded like the fan, that's why it's ticking.
Cyclonus
Can someone from Corsair advise what is the rated RPM for the H55 pump? Regardless of whether I connect it to CPU or SYS fan header with PWM disabled, its always max 1500rpm.
derv.god
Sorry for the necro thread, but I am also interested what is the pump speed of the H55. When I use a fan header from the motherboard it is ~1500rpm Thank you !
