Unstoppable Posted December 2, 2013 Share Posted December 2, 2013 Hi everyone, Let me explain the problem. Recently (about 2 months ago) I bought a new laptop, the ASUS N550JV. I also ordered a SSD with it, the Corsair Force LS 120GB. I installed the SSD in my laptop, and it has been working fine until a few days ago. I had put the laptop in sleep mode and after waking it, I got terrible performance, constant 100% disk usage, and filesystem corruption. So I tried to re-install Windows on it. But using diskpart, as soon as I was trying to format the SSD, it throws an I/O error. To make it work, I tried a number of things. I updated the firmware to the latest version and secure wiping the drive, but that didn't solve anything. Typically, when I attach the SSD to my desktop, I can use diskpart. Also tried an other PC with SATA III (mine only has SATA II) and that also worked fine. So my initial thought was, maybe something is wrong with my laptop instead of the SSD. To put that theory to the test, I used my desktop SSD in the laptop (Corsair Force GT 180GB). Surprisingly, this works fine. No problems whatsoever. Normal HDD's also work fine in the laptop. So apparently there is either something wrong with the SSD, or there is some kind of conflict between my laptop and the SSD. Clearing CMOS on the laptop didn't help. BIOS is already the latest version. Cables should be fine since other devices work properly. Last but not least, I also tried installing Ubuntu on the Force LS inside my laptop. This seemed to work fine, but when looking at the logs at boot there are still problems. Ubuntu just seems to handle them smarter. Toasted Posted December 3, 2013 Share Posted December 3, 2013 The laptop might not be compatible with the SSD if you don't get any errors/problems when using it on a desktop PC.
