billiejackfu
I'm trying to find out which radiators will fit in my case, there are mounting holes on the top and side panels so will an H110 or H100i fit, I'm really not interested in the push pull H90/H80i setup, I'd rather have more cooling from the top. Anyway, I'd like to know for Corsair or the community with 550D if they've gotten the dual 120 (H100i) or dual 140 (H110) to fit. Thanks
peanutz94
You would have to use the H100i with that case. it only supports 120mm fans at the top.
billiejackfu
Then why does it have mounting holes for 140mm fans?
Administrators Technobeard Posted December 4, 2013 Administrators Share Posted December 4, 2013 You can use 140mm fans in the top panel of a 550D, however depending on the motherboard design, the H110 might not fit. The only 140mm cooler we officially recommend in this case is the H90, and that's when it's mounted to the rear fan location. Compatible Corsair Cases are listed on the H110 product page: http://www.corsair.com/us/hydro-series-h110-280mm-extreme-performance-liquid-cpu-cooler.html
billiejackfu
What if I mount the rad on top of the case, fans on the inside pushing and fans on top pulling? I mean the case isn't as silent as I'd like it to be, I'd just like to start playing with overclocking on my FX4350.
sipchen
How are you gonna get the rad outside in the first place? (for the case of a H series water cooler) Unless you are planning to have a custom water loop then you can place your rad outside Also, push pull config will only lower your temps by a couple of degrees. Having just bought the H110 cooler and the Obsidian 550D (the case is apparently compatible), I've run into the issue of space trying to mount the H110 at the top of the case (with the cooling fans on the inside of the case). If the H110 is not recommended for the case, why does the Corsair website state the H110 is compatible with the case? I'd like to understand which motherboards would actually fit with the H110 in that case, as the Asus X99-A is a standard ATX board... For all you out there that are about to make the same mistake I did, the H110 will not fit with the Asus X99-A motherboard if you're planning to mount the radiator and cooling fans at the top of the 550D case. I stand corrected, but I don't think there is anywhere else to mount the H110 short of removing the drive bays...
Corsair Employees Corsair Dustin Posted December 2, 2014 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 2, 2014 I'd honestly go with the H100i in the 550D, especially on an FX-4350. AMD's FX processors party really well with our Hydro coolers in general. As for the clearance issues with the H110, I've forwarded that information to the product manager.
