H100i extra SATA cable

stumbling

That fit does not have a SATA cable. The SATA cable is the power source is permanently attached to the Cooling Block. If the connector on the SATA cable is damaged, you can just replace that connector.

I haven't seen just the connector by itself, but you could use one from an adapter like this:

good catch george, too much multi tasking and crs here

not sure how the connector you posted would help if his is damaged.

may be best if he submitted an rma and let them sort it out.

I was suggesting that if in fact the SATA Power connector is damaged, he could harvest one from that adapter and replace the connector on the H100i.

Care would have to be taken to ensure the proper polarity with the replacement connector.

Thanks both that is great. Im not sure what part of the cable is damaged as I don't think it is working (for whatever reason). Is there a complete replacement for the cable? The cables wytnyt found can be bought in the uk from a place called scan, but as RodeoGeorge rightly pointed out for some reason it is missing the SATA cable.

Out of interest whilst I am looking for the cable will it be ok to run the H100i without it? Im afraid I don't know anywhere near as much as I should about these things.

If in fact the SATA cable is defective, there will be no power to the pump.

Is the light in your pump on?

Also, let's be sure we're talking about the correct connector. Is the connector that you feel is defective the one that is on the end of the wires which come directly out of the pump? Or is it a connector on one of the cables that plugs into the pump (USB interface cable, fan "Y" cable, or data cable)?

It is the SATA cable for the H100i itself (the one with the other end that has a thing with 3 holes to go into the h100i. Weirdly when I unplug it the light on the corsair logo is still red. Not sure if I'm just going mad though?

Do I actually need the SATA cable to plug the h100i into the PSU? Presumably the pump won't work?

I think that we might have clarified something.

I believe you are talking about the DATA cable that connects the Power Supply to either the USB Dongle, or to the H100i, to allow the Power Supply to communicate with Corsair LINK. If that's the cable you are referring to, it is a DATA cable, not a SATA cable. LOL

The Power Supply DATA cable has no bearing on the operation of the H100i.

The cable that supplies power to the H100i is permanently attached to the H100i, and has a SATA Power connector on the end. That cable MUST be plugged into a Power Supply SATA power source for the H100i to operate, and you will not even get a light on the H100i without the power cable connected.

Can you post a picture of the cable that you are referring to? This would help.

This is the cable I mean. Btw thank you for all of the continued help, it is very much appreciated.

That is in fact the SATA Power Cable and the tach output cable. The larger SATA connector supplies power to the H100i pump, and the smaller single wire with the three pin connector provides a pump speed output to the motherboard CPU Fan header.

I do not see any damage to the SATA Power Connector in the picture that you've posted, but it might not be a picture of YOUR connector, or the damage might not be physically visible.

You mentioned earlier that "Weirdly when I unplug it the light on the corsair logo is still red. Not sure if I'm just going mad though?" Were you referring to unplugging the smaller three pin connector? If so, there is still power being supplied to the H100i through the SATA Power connector, so the Pump LED will still have power.

I have never unplugged the three pin connector from my motherboard, as doing that removes the CPU Fan input, and my system would shut down thinking that the CPU Fan had failed.

I will repeat that if the LED on your Pump is lit, I believe that the SATA Power Connector is okay and supplying power to the H100i.

If it is some physical damage to that connector, then replacing the connector itself by splicing in a replacement connector (ensuring that you have the proper polarity when you make the splice) would resolve that issue.

To the best of my knowledge, if the SATA Power Connector is disconnected from the Power Supply, the pump will no longer run, the pump LED will go out, and your system will overheat (due to no CPU cooling), and if everything is connected properly the system will shut down when the CPU Fan sensing header no longer receives a tach signal from the H100i.

Don't know what else to say , other than I might be completely off base as to what you were originally seeking in the way of help. You might post your specific question, as I think that it has gotten lost in our back and forth discussion.
