jbaccrington
Hi Testing my UPS -Pro 1500 APC battery backup will cause my CORSAIR 650W computer power supply to start buzzing. Only happens when I cut the power to test the battery backup. Rang APC support and I was told my UPS didn't produce a Pure Sine Wave signal. They also said the buzzing would not harm my computer. I'm posting here to check out the answer APC gave me. thanks Jonathan
peanutz94
ang APC support and I was told my UPS didn't produce a Pure Sine Wave signal. They also said the buzzing would not harm my computer. This is correct! And just to add to this, Corsair suggests nothing but pure sine wave UPS's with their PSU's .

Hi Should I return the APC Pro 1500 UPS back to the online store because it doesn't support a pure sine wave? Is they any chance the APC Pro 1500 will damage my computer system? ----------------------------------- Reading here: http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?t=63964 I quote: With some UPS backups you will get buzzing with high efficiency PSU's. This will not damage any of the components in the system. ------------------------------------- Jonathan

If my computer system is safe to use with the UPS, I'm happy with that. Jonathan
geronimo427
The term "pure" used in UPS backup is a misnomer. Even the power company doesn't supply a pure sinewave (harmonic distortion). All UPS backups are either stepped sinewave (cheapest, simulated sinewave), or sinewave. The sinewave UPS's are better, due to lower Total Harmonic Distortion.
