Brian Entei
Hello, I have recently purchased a ASRock H81M LGA 1150 Intel H81 Motherboard to fit into my old Dell Dimension B110 case,(which it does so nicely), but the stock psu in my Dell Dimension does not have the minimum specs to power my new motherboard(it is a 250-watt, 1x 20-pin main, 1x 4-pin 12v, 6x 4-pin peripheral, 1x floppy). Does the following Corsair 500-Watt power supply from amazon.com look like it will power my new motherboard, and supply ample power to any pci-express cards I may add in the future? The page at amazon does not have information on the main power connectors(i.e. 20-pin or 24-pin, and 4-pin or 8-pin). Could someone here from Corsair show me all of the specs on this power supply unit, and possibly tell me whether or not it will work for my motherboard? Here is the link to it: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0092ML0MY/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
peanutz94
It's a standard ATX PSU and will work just fine with your new MB. Brian Entei
One more thing, do I need to find a new plastic fan cover to match the following fan, processor, and case? peanutz94
Yes, you need a new CPU cooler. The stock DELLs will not fit your new MB
Brian Entei
Thanks again. Could you help me find a good one? I am not good at finding the right parts, and sometimes I get ripped off.
peanutz94
Before considering a cooler you might want to consider another case that uses larger standard fans to keep your new system cool. That case is tiny so you would need something small. A stock Intel cooler would be about all your going to fit in there. Not to mention the single 80mm rear fan doesn't provide much in the way at all for air flow since the case has no front intake fan or any spot for an intake fan.. It was a decent case for the original hardware, but your newer hardware is going to run hotter and need better to breathe. A stock Intel cooler is about all that will fit that I know of. Brian Entei
Okay, I was really wanting to use the ol' Dimension B110 casing, but if you say that it may not provide adequate heating, then how bout this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147182 With that, what kind of fan case/cooler thing would I be able to get? Thank you very much for helping out. -Brian Entei
peanutz94
Brian , I am sorry this is a support forum for Corsair products. You would be best to ask these general system building questions in another forum. BTW...Corsair has a beautiful line of cases. :)
Brian Entei
Oh, okay, I'm sorry. Thanks anyway! Could you perhaps redirect me to some Corsair cases then? :o: Thanks! -Brian Entei
