jdd
sorry, I didn't see the forum is english! Hello, I may have the same problem. I have an HP computer hp 311fr this one: this one mobo MSI MS-7613 that I don't see on the Corsair compatibility list. BIOS updated today. I bough on Amazon two ram 4Go corsair cmx8gx3m2a1333c9. memtest gives all red! I can only test one chip at a time, with two the computer do not start at all. I already sent back one of these packs, as deffective, so I imagine a compatibility problem, but why? these ram do not work neither on an other PC I have also at home! some idea? thanks jdd
jdd
in my case I can only boot one at a time, and only with memtest (the HP test crashes the computer)
peanutz94
jdd, It probably best to contact HP and ask them if this memory is compatible with that system and what memory size they allow. I have a feeling it's IC size just like this person and also the OP i linked to .
jdd
just to see if I understood well, I have to use memory with chips on the two sides of the pcb if I want 4Gb? Could be because I have 4 slots but only 16Gb max available on the mobo thanks jdd
peanutz94
just to see if I understood well, I have to use memory with chips on the two sides of the pcb if I want 4Gb? No, the chips size is what is going to matter. Each chip can be no larger than 256mb in size. But I cant say for sure if this is the same for you, jdd. This is why I suggested to get in touch with HP and see if they have more detailed information on memory compatibility. One quick question though...Is your BIOS locked? Looking at your specs , there really should be no reason why these modules wont run on that machine. I suspect it could also be a voltage adjustment issue, But most OEM BIOS's are locked. Although your symptoms are the same, your in a completely different situation with a completely different system.. I'm going to request this thread be split off to it's own. jdd
hp says: Memory upgrade information: Supports DDR3 DIMMs only Dual channel memory architecture Four DDR3 DIMM (240-pin) sockets DIMM types: PC3-10600 (DDR3-1333) PC3-8500 (DDR3-1066) Non-ECC memory only, unbuffered Supports up to 16 GB on 64-bit PCs Maximum memory only if using 4GB DDR3 DIMM modules. but the details (about chip) are not available on online dealers (even local vendor do not know) :-( bios locked?? do you want me to open an other thread? thanks
peanutz94
but the details (about chip) are not available on online dealers (even local vendor do not know) :-( bios locked?? This is why I said you may need to call them. Locked BIOS? Does your Bios allow for any voltage or timing adjustments? do you want me to open an other thread? thanks No, i have requested that it be split from the OP . That way all your posts will be in one thread. :)
jdd
to give an end at this story, I couldn't find 4Gb ram working on this computer (not much choice locally and I can't try all on the net - no dealer gives any info on the chips, but the corsair 2Gb rams worked. I have now 8Gb total and wil stay like this thanks jdd
