hibone
Dear all. Aside the latency, what's the difference among these two ram kits? http://www.corsair.com/it/memory-by-product-family/vengeance/vengeance-memory-32gb-1866mhz-cl9-ddr3-cmz32gx3m4a1866c9.html http://www.corsair.com/it/memory-by-product-family/vengeance/vengeance-32gb-quad-channel-ddr3-memory-kit-cmz32gx3m4x1866c10.html The specs seem identical but their prices are 200$ apart. As far as i know the first kit is an "A" revision, whereas the second kit is "X" revision. Does it means anything? Also, with respect to the Vengeance pro series, which are "expecially tailored with ivy bridge and haswell in mind", are the Vengeance series any different? Maybe less reliable XMP profiles? Thank you.
peanutz94
side the latency, what's the difference among these two ram kits? http://www.corsair.com/it/memory-by-...m4a1866c9.html http://www.corsair.com/it/memory-by-...4x1866c10.html Case latency. One is CL9 and the other CL10. The difference being that the CL9 part will be slightly faster at the same frequency as the CL10 kit. Nothing you would ever notice in real world performance. So if one is 20 bucks cheaper go for it. As far as i know the first kit is an "A" revision, whereas the second kit is "X" revision. Does it means anything? Nope, not a thing when it comes to compatibility. Also, with respect to the Vengeance pro series, which are "expecially tailored with ivy bridge and haswell in mind", are the Vengeance series any different? Maybe less reliable XMP profiles? The standard Vengeance series was designed around the Sandybridge CPU's. But is fully compatible with any of the newer CPU's as well. They are no less reliable than any of Corsairs other memory. Just different product lines aimed at different situations and systems.
hibone
Nope, not a thing when it comes to compatibility. Thus both kits are absolutely identical? CL aside i mean. Strange, since the first one cost 264$ and the second one costs 479$. The standard Vengeance series was designed around the Sandybridge CPU's. But is fully compatible with any of the newer CPU's as well. They are no less reliable than any of Corsairs other memory. Just different product lines aimed at different situations and systems. Sorry about that, i never meant the memory reliability itself. I meant the XMP setting alone, as stated here: http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showpost.php?p=682708&postcount=2 Thank you. peanutz94
Thus both kits are absolutely identical? No they are completely different. Sorry about that, i never meant the memory reliability itself. I meant the XMP setting alone, as stated here: http://forum.corsair.com/forums/show...08&postcount=2 It's not really a reliability issue as Dustin put it.The issue there is some of the older memory kits use the original XMP1.0 standard. Haswell brought with it the introduction of the new XMP 1.3 standard. So any of the older modules that have the first version of XMP may not be read correctly by the BIOS. But they can still be set manually. Most of Corsairs memory produced today should be 1.3 ready and will be stated in the product briefs unless otherwise noted. .
