mygonads
Hello I'm new to building pcs but I upgraded my aging machine whilst I wait on my new Ivy CPU and ever since I am getting a fast clicking noise when the PSU fan is off. At first I thought it was one of the GTX460SP's fans but the noise stays at the same speed/frequency if I ramp the fans up so it is looking like a PSU issue. I have read a few posts on here reporting the same thing but from models lower down in the range, is it anything to worry about? It's not loud or anything and it doesn't do it all the time but when you spend £155 on a power supply you want something you can rely on. Also the PSU fan often doesn't spin for hours and then all of a sudden it sounds like my machine is going to take off and fly around  , shouldn't the fan kick in when load goes over 25%? Sounds like its getting really hot and all of a sudden desperately trying to cool itself down.
