300R/230T Case Parts

I was looking through the Carbide 300R case parts and found this:

Stupid question but does this have actual dust filter 'mesh' or just a metal grill only? Otherwise the 300R already comes with a top air vent grill so what good would a second one do.

What exactly comes with this kit? I see just one side frame in the photo. The reason I ask is does Corsair make a hard drive cage around the same size, maybe like this that would physically fit into the bottom of a Graphite 230T case to replace the plastic drive cage with a nicer metal one as an upgrade mod?

Also would a SATA RAID type hard drive cage with a backplane board be possible? I'm just looking for ways to mod whatever sub-$100 case I choose between the 300R and 230T and do some relatively easy mods using low cost Corsair parts like these that would make a big improvement. Maybe someone has done this sort of thing before.

Just the mesh top, no filter.

Nothing officially ,sorry to say you would be pretty much on your own. I haven't seen or heard of any mods using a backplane either.

Oh okay I misunderstood and see it's meant to be a replacement grill and not an accessory. But there are magnetic dust filters for a lot of the Corsair cases so maybe that's an option for me. It's hard to get an individual piece vs paying for an expensive complete filter kit. I'm leaning more towards the 300R because there would be less to have to mod except top dust filtering and solid window. I also see now how the 'secondary' drive cage parts work, to add on top of the existing bottom cage. I love the 230T exterior looks though and it would be a nice mod platform to make something rather unique out of it. For my Spring 2013 build I'm thinking of using Corsair case, memory, power supply, keyboard and mouse. I wouldn't mind adding a nice Corsair "sail" decal on the side of the 230T window panel for an extra touch.
