ParianPete
For about 10 days i have had a problem booting my pc. I press the on button and the power led flashes and the case fan and cpu fan spin briefly (sometimes nothing happens and i have to turn psu off/on). After repeating this 5-20 times it boots and all is normal. I have eliminated RAM, HDD and on button. Just ran "paper clip" test. One fan connected. There is a distinct delay of maybe 1 sec between switching on PSU and fan spinning. Is this normal? or could this be why pc won't boot? Corsair CX 400, MSI 770 G45, AMD Phenom II x4 960T. TheSidewinder
A one second delay with the paper clip test is normal, with as small a load as you've placed on it (1 fan). Even with a somewhat higher load there may be such a delay.

ParianPete
Cannot decide if the MB or power supply is faulty (power supply under warranty till end of month). I press on button and CPU fan spins a few times and a LED on MB flashes, this continues to happen on successive pushes and usually pc will eventually boot. If i turn off power and then press on button, cpu fan spins more times than above when power on, and LED flashes. Turn power back on, press on button and usually pc boots. Does this indicate MB or power supply? Seems that large capacitors are involved, charging and discharging which, to me, points to power supply. Any ideas, suggestions, would be much appreciated.
