erickliu
Ok, I'm freaking out. I popped my case panel off for a system clean every 1-1.5 months and today I found a oily substance on the two fans attached to the radiator. I know the picture quality is bad but if you look closely, you can see some water marks and the shinny parts on the side is the liquid/oil. So I would like to understand the nature of this problem and if you can tell me if the liquid came from the fan or radiator. If you need more info, just ask me, I will be pleased to provide you with some. Additional info: -This is Refurbished and I just started using it maybe a month ago or even less. -I haven't seen this problem until today. -The two fans are linked to a fan controller (Nzxt sentry 2)(runs at 100% when gaming)
JKeifer
Hi. I am not sure what I am looking for and am unable to discern any wetness or oil from the pictures. There's nothing in the fans themselves that can produce what you describe. The wetness is coming from the sealed cooling system itself and I would hesitate to run the system further diagnosis and problem resolution. Most leaks that have been shown here or other places have normally come from the flexi joints at the pump or rad end , it is doubtful that the actual rad has a leak ( baring physical damage ) . Quiz
The tubing on my H100 is greasy. But I can't seem to find a leak or anything else inside the computer. I'll be RMAing this H100 soon because temps are also up a lot.

peanutz94
erickliu , this is a known issue. For some reason the fans on some units were overly lubricated . Once the excess oil is flung out it will quit.
Quiz
Any explanation for the oily/greasy tubes on my H100? I am RMAing it but still want to know what would cause something like this.
peanutz94
Sparkd1 , no , i don't and without pics any answer would be a guess. It's possible it's just normal manufacturing fluids. I would just wipe it down good and run it out side the case for a day or so to see if you can see any sign of a leak.
jlhawn
this was also a issue with some 120mm Noctua fans, I have 6 Noctua fans and all are 120mm except 2 are 140mm my 2 front 120mm are a different model of Noctua then my other Noctuas and they had oil coming out for the first month, Noctua assured me it would stop, and it did. so check and make sure it's oil as if it was for sure coolant it would evaporate after awhile, so if it stays then it's oil. JKeifer
Hi Sprkd1. I'm still having trouble seeing what you are trying to explain. In the original post you say the wetness is associated with the fans on the radiator yet your pictures appear to be focusing on the pump assembly on the CPU. Maybe if you could draw in some arrows or circle the area you are interested in with Photoshop or a similar program. Also, if you are using a flash, try and use available lighting for the pictures. I am not the original poster of this thread but asked a question why the tubes on my H100 are oily/greasy. If you look at my pics, you can sort of see that the tubes are shinny/greasy/oily. peanutz94
Sparked if your unit has been installed for a while and this is something new, then I wouldn't chance it and have it RMA'd. I see what your seeing..I think...top left side hose?
Quiz
Actually both tubes are oily/greasy from end to end. I am RMAing the cooler (just waiting for my pre-paid label). Is the coolant inside oily/greasy or is it more like water?
peanutz94
Yes, it will have a bit of an oily feel to it. It's a water glycol mix.
Memhorder
it seems the "Leak" has slowed down a bit erickliu did you ever figure out what it is? Because I'm a little freaked as I have noticed some spatter on the walls of my H100i fan. The SP120 I think. I wiped it and it looked greenish on paper towel which is what Rad fluid looks like. I'm really hoping that is bearing grease. Was yours?
HOODedAssault
It's from bearing. I have it on mine and there not even on a water cooler.
Memhorder
Really glad you said that. I'm monitoring it but it doesn't seem to leak anymore. So with the oil flinging out of the fan does that mean 1 There's too much oil and that the excess or 2 The oil is leaking and the fan will cease soon. I'm not gonna RMA if it's just a fan. Corsiar should have more cosmetic SP120's Like LED ones. I see on the side that the casing can hold LED's but that must be the same plastic press as the AF 120 because they light up. But yeah LED SP120's on H100i at top of case.

Well I appreciate the sense of security :sunglasse Yeah I was a little worried but yeah I can see why the oil flings out. When ever I start my PC the fans on the H100i spin at over 2500 rpm for a few seconds. Also the heat and high RPM's while gaming. Thanks
wytnyt
your welcome, normally they gingerly pack fans and this happens, just run them at various speeds and the oil will stop,,,i had to wipe one fan 3 times and nothing since,,that was over 1.5 years ago...
