Fredro
Hi My psu is brand new, and I noticed that when the pc was in idle, like just browsing websites or nothing at all. I noticed that the fan tried to start spinning and when that happens a annoying noise is made. I verified that the fan works by running furmark or heavy games. It's just when it's idle. I recorded a video where you can see this happening. Notice the noise when it tries to spin up. It may not sound much but it sounds in whole apartment. [ame] [/ame] Should I return it? Spanky McSpank
Yes, you should RMA. I had a very similar problem with my TX750M, and others have reported the same. I bet you'll find you PSU has to get quite warm before the fan runs properly and cools it down. So instead of a constant temp and a gradually increasing, quiet fan, you get a build up of heat, and then a fast fan for a few minutes before the cycle repeats itself. Whenever you see a fan rocking back and forth or start-stopping like that, either the fan or the controller is faulty, because it's not getting enough power to run properly. otal99
Hello I just got the same power supply on an RMA and it is doing the exact same thing. I am concerned that when I RMA it, I will get another one with the same problem. Is this a common problem with this psu or are these isolated incidents? Has anyone got a this psu without this kind of issue?
ep260
Explain that the problem is still occurring and request a different model psu. It seems like most units from that series have this problem. Alternatively you could always just sell that unit and buy something else, that's what I did. Fredro
Just an update. I went to my retailer and they couldn't reproduce the problem because they can't get the exact environment as I have at home. I showed them the video and agreed that it shouldn't be doing that. But they still didn't let me RMA it. Can we get a Corsair person answer? Should I RMA to you directly? Is this video enough proof? Is there maybe a way to force it to be always on? Because the fan doesn't make any noise when it's spinning, so I rather have it do it all the time instead of making this very irritating noise. peanutz94
Fredro, yes, you can RMA' your PSU .And no thats not the way it should work. However Corsair has n control over your local shops policy's. If they are unwilling to help then use the link on the left to have Corsair replace it.
