FiLoBoI
I just bought a corsair h80i and wanted to know what the temps should be for both the h80i and the cpu temp? at the moment the h80i at idle is 28 degrees and cpu is 40 degrees. when i first installed it using the pre-applied paste i wasnt happy with the temps and when i took it off one side was not making contact with the cpu. i re-seated it twice, the first time i just wanted to see if the cpu and paste is making full contact with the h80i which it was and was spread evenly as i used the pea method. im using arctic silver 5 paste. also used noctua paste as a test as it does not have a cure time. with a load temp of approx low to mid 70 degrees is that normal? i remembered to test if my heatsink was faulty i added abit of pressure to make contact to the cpu. when i did this with the h80i the temps dropped to approx mid 60 degrees. this test was done using prime95. screenshot below http://s17.postimg.org/xzukl0ywf/corsair_link.jpg Sorry if this has been discussed on a previous thread but i couldnt find anything using the search option. FiLoBoI
i was expecting lower temps than this as my stock intel cooler reached low to mid 70 degrees on full load on prime 95. this was tested several times (also tested by the technician at the store i bought the parts off) and i had my cpu and motherboard replaced. cpu was also tested on another motherboard just to rule it out that it is fine. i even purchased at thermaltake frio ock at least a few months back and the temps they suggested me i didnt get. forgot to state that ambient temps are approx 20-25 degrees depending on the weather. if its a hot day id usually turn on my air con to make sure the room is really cool. i just have a feeling that this specific model of my motherboard is hopeless and that i should either purchase another one or just upgrade as it is a 3rd gen cpu and they dont make the mid to high end motherboards anymore. Duggie
I am having almost the opposite issue! At idle, Link reports my cpu at 0.0c most of the time, with the occasional blip to 9 or 10... Even after running a benchmark (passmark) for about 20 minutes, the highest reported cpu avg was only 34.6 with the H80i reporting 32.4... Do these number seem right? I guess I should be happy with the cpu temp when being "worked", but the steady 0c reporting at idle bothers me...shouldn't there be some temp reading? You're right about the cpu. So, any idea why it reads "off"? Or is it just one of those "glitchy" things I'm gonna have to learn to live with? wa3pnt
Duggie, I am using the AMD FX-8350 and the readings in Corsair LINK are also erratic. My work around is to use the H100i temperature to control the fans, and I've found that the MONITOR portion of AI Suite will work (without interfering with Corsair LINK) to obtain more accurate CPU temperature readings. This might also work on the AMD A10 CPU. RodeoGeorge

RodeoGeorge good tip george its always helpful with those using the amd platform, while those like myself using intel can only offer what we have read with no real world application. FiLoBoI
i ordered the msi z77 mpower as it was the only one i could find available. really wanted the asus maximus v formula but alot of stores have dis-continued alot of the z77 1155 socket motherboards. from the reviews this board should do the job well. thank god that i was able to find this. i didnt want to result in going 4th gen as my cpu is just over a year old and is still under warranty. All the programs that r made to read the temp arnt compatible with the first generation fx cpu's even the program amd overdrive has problems reading it. hell when i first intalled the h80i and i use prime 95 twice i never came above 24C on my fx 4100
