dmilam
We're in the process of building a time capsule for our County Courthouse Centennial celebration. Next weekend we are opening the capsule they left in 1913. Subsequently, we're going to replace it with one of our own. I'm considering placing at least one and maybe two survivor series flash drives in the box. My question is, will they last? I don't have any reason to believe they wont sit in the box and physically survive but, will the memory material maintain its structure and survive? Will they be able to stroll down to the local computer museum and plug that sucker in? Has there been any discussion about this? Am I wasting my time? Synthohol
100 years from now who knows if we will have the capability to read them. i would do it though. snippets from my 48 years on this earth, copies of sports moments, victories and tragedy. its worth the chance IMHO! Synbios
It would probably work, assuming they have USB drives 100 years from now. Think about how hard it is just to find a 3.5 inch floppy drive now and those were big up until 10 years ago. What about a 5.25 inch floppy drives? Those are virtually impossible to find.
