MorningstarZero
I've got an H100i mounted in my 800D, and the idle and load temps seem more than a bit off to me. My CPU temp idles around 45C Ambient room temp in my computer room is 19C (the advantages of living in Minnesota.) Here's what Corsair link shows at idle for my system (Click for full size image): http://imageshack.us/a/img571/786/fsbb.th.png Both the fans on my radiator are set to Performance mode, and their RPM is pegged even an idle. Pump RPM sits around 2200 RPM and does not change (from what I've read here, that is normal) When I used AIDA64 to run a stress test of the system, the temp of all my CPU cores spike up over 100C. http://imageshack.us/a/img855/6997/a44x.png I've check the back plate of the water cooler, and there's no slack. I'm going to try remounting the water block tomorrow. Are my expectations off and these temps are normal? Other than remounting the water block with new thermal paste, what other steps can I take to troubleshoot this?
peanutz94
Yeah they are a bit on the high side. I think a remount would be the first course of action. Also check the sides of the block where the hoses are and be sure they are not sitting on any of the MB caps. If they are rotate the block 90deg one way or the other to get the right clearance. Let us know what happens after the remount please.
madmecca1975
Temps should be about low 30 idle and should not be any higher than high 50 that's what mine is with 4.2 overclock. Is the back plate the right way around as well
MorningstarZero
Reseat didn't work... Temp is still not anywhere near what it should be. How does one go about getting an RMA for a defective product?
krneki
I'm always puzzled how people give suggestion yet have no idea what type of CPU you are talking about and if it is O/C.

His CPU is listed in the drop down menu and since there was no mention of an overclock you have to assume they are stock clocks. @MorningstarZero How does one go about getting an RMA for a defective product? I agree! It's probably best to get it replaced at this point. Just use the link on the left to request an RMA.

Sorry, I should have mentioned it. I'm running a Core i5 3570K w/ no Overclock at the moment. When I noticed the heat issues, the first thing I did was reset my system back to stock speeds to see of that resolved the issue, which it unfortunately did not. My mistake. As an excuse, I'm not used to this forum. As for OP. Your liquid temps are too high. They should be in the 30C. This is why you have the high idle temp. Check if the air is passing through the radiator smoothly. Also the ventilators are running like crazy. For comparison. For my i5 2500k@4.4 at 1.250V I have the fans under 1000 rpm (quiet) and the liquid is never above 31C, not even under Prime95.

On a lark, I ran out and picked up an H80i from a nearby Microcenter and swapped it out. Talk about night and day. With the H80i installed I turned my dynamic overclock back on (caps out at 4.2 GHz). At idle, I'm sitting around 30c (water temp reporting ~26c). I ran a stress test using AIDA64, temp capped out just a touch over 70c (fluid temp never got above 28c). It's really looking like that pump has failed on my H100i. RMA submitted.
armoredsaint
I am having the exact same issue with my H100i also, getting a RMA also - did you just swap out the pump, hoses and radiator? what about the connections to the mobo, i assume not needed to replace? Pratticus
Hi Morningstarzero, I was reading your post and my situation sounds identical: Pratt's Problem Did you RMA your unit, and if so, have you mounted the replacement with acceptable temperature results?
