Dead AX750

Legacy

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I have a Corsair AX750 that died on me recently, I still have 5 years left on the warranty. When I RMA the unit, will I receive the same model again or will I receive the new AX760 line that replaced the old AX750? If not, which PSU is supposed to replace the old AX750?

I only ask, as I have read that the old AX750's has been discontinued? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thank you. :)

I believe they would replace it with the AX760. Once you get so far into the process CS would contact you and let you know exactly which one they will send you.

Thank you for replying Peanut, I assumed that would the case as I did a bit of research, that also points to the AX760 as the replacement. But... I would also very much like to hear this from RAM GUY or someone else from Corsair.

You see, I live in South-Africa and I am trying to replace it with my local supplier, but they are currently giving me trouble in the following sense;

They want to give me a HX750, which is not a bad PSU, but it lacks features I need that my old AX750 has.

Things like; it's not as efficient, it doesn't have 2x EPS Power connectors, there is one Protection / Safety certification missing. Also thanks to it not being Fully Modular and slightly longer it will make things a little more complicated in my case when it comes to cabling.

I went to http://www.corsair.com/us/media/cms/manual/corsair-psu-spec-table-091813.pdf in order to see which PSU comes the closest to my old AX750 and true enough, it would seem it is the AX760. It is the same in every respect, except of course, for the efficiency levels which are better. This doesn't come as surprise, giving that the new AX series is Platinum rated instead of Gold.

If RAM GUY or someone at Corsair can confirm my findings, I can send the facts to my supplier so that they can see to it that I get correct replacement. I have had experience with some suppliers; they would swap your broekn unit for the correct one at the manufacturer and offer a sub-par part unit to the end-user so they can make a nice tidy profit out of their misfortune. Alternatively, perhaps I should send it to Corsair myself if they do not want to help me?

Thanks in advance to Corsair, your help in this matter will be greatly appreciated. :)

Again, you'll have to call or contact CS and work that out with them . This is something that can't be handed here on the forums.

Corsair has no Control over local policy's or what they can offer you as far as a replacement. In other words. If Corsair offers's you an AX760, your supplier doesn't have to do the same. And since your PSU is EOL there is no guarantee that Corair will offer you this specific PSU as a replacement.

You are more than welcome to wait for RamGuy if you wish. There are a few of us here that are officially backed by the support team to answer these types of questions. Me being one of them. But if you would still like to wait I'm cool with that.:) I'm just trying to save you some time is all.

But yes,You can also send your PSU directly to corsair for a replacement , just use the link on the left to request your RMA if that is the way you want to go about it. Corsair has three RMA hubs located around the world. USA, Netherlands,and Tiawan. You would need to sen it to the closest one to your location and that would be determined by CS once you submit your request.
