Value Select (CMSO8GX3M2A1333C9) in HP EliteBook 8440p (QM57 Chipset)

I have an Elitebook 8440p (Intel Core i5-560M) that currently has 2GB of Samsung DDR3 memory (256x8) installed. It is running Win7Pro-64bit. Anyway, I purchased 2x4GB of Corsair Value Select memory (CMSO8GX3M2A1333C9) for it. Neither SODIMM worked - in either slot, so it was RMA'd. I received the replacement memory - same problem. I power it on, set the BIOS to defaults (BIOS does detect the full 8GB of memory) - and it begins a power on/power off cycle that never stops.

Old memory = Samsung 2GB, 256x8, DDR3, 1333, 7-7-7-20 (part M471B5773CHS-CH9)

New Memory = Corsair 4GB (each), 512x8, DDR3, 1333, 9-9-9-24 (part CMSO8GX3M2A1333C9)

Processor bus = 1066 (memory should run @ this, right?)

Thoughts on this? From everything I can find, this memory should be compatible. I filed a ticket w/ Corsair but have yet to get a response. BTW - 8440p is running the latest BIOS.

ETA: Got it to start memtest 1x on the initial boot - froze the machine immediately. Since then, only the power on/power off cycles.

You may want to confirm with HP but I suspect it's IC size that is the issue. I know some of the older systems and even some of the newer mobile chipsets are limited to modules constructed with the 256mb IC's Making the 512's too large for the system to recognize.

HP says it is the IC size. Really ticks me off. The memory configurator says this memory is a match for the 8440p. Stinks, cause I can't return it! Ugh. Were there versions of this memory w/ 256MB IC? I think I read that somewhere. Anyone know if there is a way to get a RMA for a DIFFERENT IC chip? Possibly a different series?

I have a problem w/ some Value Select memory that I recently purchased. See this thread:

http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=123391

Basically, the memory configurator shows this memory as compatible. It is not per HP. Is there any way I can get a different set of memory from you all to replace this? I can't return the memory as it is open. This machine needs 256MB IC chips.

Also, I did an advanced RMA for this memory (and need to send it back still). If you can swap this memory out for something compatible - could you alter my RMA so I can send both sets in the same shipment? Lastly, could you extend my deadline for receiving it as I'd like to hear from you all prior to sending this back. Ticket Number - 6201205

ETA: This post WAS in the customer support forum but somebody moved it. I'd love to receive a response to this as bumping my ticket with comments has done nothing.
