RGT19
I just want to make sure that the H100i will work perfectcly. Here some photos of my build: http://www.techpowerup.com/gallery/3712.html and one question: Do I need PWM fans for the H100i to control them? if i buy SP120 Quiet Edition (non PWM), it will work perfectly too?. They are super Quiet at full speed by default, i think that i won't adjust the fan speed by Link Software. Or, it's better to buy the PWM version even if i'm not gonna use the Link Software?. peanutz94
Do I need PWM fans for the H100i to control them? You don't NEED to have PWM fans. But there are a lot of three pin fans that wont work. So PWM is a pretty safe bet.
RGT19
So, one question. 1. The SP120 Quiet PWM version is Quiet as the Non PWM version?. 2. With PWN version i need to adjust the speed of the two fans or i don't have to touch anything?. the fans control themselves automatically?. 3. The PWM version needs to be connected to the block and the non PWM version needs to be connected to the board?. I hate any noise.
RGT19
help guys, i wanna buy the correct one quickly.
peanutz94
1. The SP120 Quiet PWM version is Quiet as the Non PWM version?. Should be pretty equal. The major difference is how it's controlled. 2. With PWN version i need to adjust the speed of the two fans or i don't have to touch anything?. the fans control themselves automatically?. No, the fans should adjust automatically. 3. The PWM version needs to be connected to the block and the non PWM version needs to be connected to the board?. Either one. If you want the H100 to control the fans plug it into the cooling block. If you want your MB's software to control the fans then plug them in there. wytnyt
pwm is better IF you want the link to control its speeds ,yes
RGT19
and if i buy the high performance version and i just slow down their speeds with corsair software link? can i adjust the speed as the quiet edition version?.
wytnyt
if you run at a minimum rpm yes their gonna be quiet
RGT19
i'm confused now, i don't know which one to buy :(
wytnyt
:D: ok you need sp[static pressure] fans if used on the cooler you need pwm so they can be rpm controlled at low rpm they are quiet but at max you can hear them non pwm fans may work but not always guaranteed you can also use as case fans but with the same amount of noise db
RGT19
i wanna quiet edition sp but i don't know if pwm or not because the pwm and non pwm has the same max speed. and they are really quiet.
wytnyt
i wanna quiet edition sp but i don't know if pwm or not because the pwm and non pwm has the same max speed. and they are really quiet. max rpm isnt always the same sp has more fan [horsepower] needed to push air thru the radiator
RGT19
a mean that SP120 PWM Quiet and SP120 Quiet have the same max speed and they are really quiet enough so, i don't see the logic of a PWM version of it, why someone wanna to slow down the speed of a Quiet Edition fan. wytnyt
well even if the rpm is similar, the sp has a much stronger air flow
RGT19
i know that, i'm talking about just of SP version, PWM and non PWM, all SP Quiet have the same speed, for that reason i don't see the importance of a PWM version of Quiet Edition. peanutz94
RGT I just answered this The difference between 3 pin and 4 pin fans is the way they are controlled 3 pin fans are voltage controlled. Fan speeds are adjusted by raising or lowering the voltage going to the fan. Full spped would be 12v, Med would be some where areound 7.5-9 v and low would be around 5v. 4 Pin PWM fans are controlled by sending pules of full 12v to the fans motor . The speed at which those pulses are sent determines fan speed. The faster the pulse the faster the speed. The slower the pulses...well, you get the idea. PWM is also more efficient and offers basically infinite control. If you MB is equipped with with 4 pin headers it doesn't matter either. It will still control either 4pin PWM or standard 3pin fans. So will the H100i. It's just that not all 3 pin fans will run on the H100i. You would know if they are not running correctly...they would either run at full speed or not at all. http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=123344
