Update request and concerns Windows 8.1

I was reading forums and maybe I missed it. But I am having the 8.1 windows corsair link software issue as well and have been checking the forums each day for an update on the newer firmware or software or both. Is there any updates on progress towards the software or firmware?

Did they start the development for this earlier than the posting date stickied in the forum? Basically how far along are they?

Next; if I can't control the pump and the fans through this software, what kind of danger am I in as far as overheating is concerned?

Ans next is the workaround published in the forum reversible once the software/firmware comes out, and if I were to implement the workaround what Could the consequences be? I am worried about messing with the USB port and somehow hosing something in my system.

Could I get an authoritative or experienced answer for these questions?

theres been no new info released regarding the release from corsair.

but your cooler will still cool even without you controlling it.

run a stress test and see what temps you get and see how it does

in a worse case tho, things are protected against damaging your computer for if it does get too hot ,it will safely shutdown.

i cant say regarding the workaround but from what ive read making a backup of your reg file is all thats needed to put things back, assuming nothing else is added along the way that is.

Wish I had an answer for you . Corsair does not talk about these sorts of things. Your guess is as good as mine.

There isn't anything you could do to damage the system just from messing with the USB ports. But anytime you change a registry entry there is a chance of windows corruption. The very worst that would happen is that you would need to reinstall your OS. But as wytnyt pointed make a back up copy of your registry so you can just swap out the file if anything would happen.

The pump isn't controllable , so it would still function exactly the same with or with out the software. The fans will also run on a default profile.
