h80i corsair link

hey all, my first post so hope i don't break any rules :O

 

First of all, i use the great cooler the h80i, my question is in regard to the corsair link function.

 

my air 540 is lacking lighting so am i able to buy the lighting kit and install it to the h80i? look on your website and on other forums, i can only find the "cooling and lighting kit" but i thought the "cooling" part i already have with the h80i?

 

my second question, i'm disappointed to see the software doesn't run on windows 8.1 and the thread you have on the subject is useless, i see the reg changes to make, but my question is if only a few reg changes are needed then why hasn't it been done and released already? before i upgraded i set the cooler to balanced, will everything work the same without the software, whiles i wait for the official release?

No, the lightning node won't work with just an H80i. You would need to by the commander unit too.

 

As far as Win8 is concerned, I really cant answer that for you. And until they release a fix Corsair wont release any information either. The best I can tell you is to watch the LINK forum for any information that may show up there.

 

And , yes, the cooler will still function without the software.

I really wouldnt hold your breath on a patch, they have had months and nothing so far. Apparently some 8.1 machines do not work with the reg fix (it might also explain the avg cpu temp/custom curve not working too although I doubt it).

 

I would strongly suggest making the reg fix and seeing for yourself, you are an 'enthusiast' aren't you? :) it seems to work well enough on my 8.1 machine with the H80 if thats any help.
