rpmucha23
Purchased a h100i yesterday, upon installation, the connection at the pump spilled its coolant all over the MB & HDD's in my Air540. Support is closed, do i take it back to Fry's? or do i have to send it into Corsair? What do i do about the anti freeze all over the place, especially in my pci-e slots? what do i use to clean it all out? So much for being ready to go for me 290X's that are coming in tomorrow
wytnyt
use alcohol to clean and let fully dry over night replacing it at frys is a much faster way to go
peanutz94
Yes, you can take it back to Fry's if you like. If you have the time to wait until tomorrow, the guys here may want to look at that particular unit. As far as the coolant is concerned soak u p as much as you can. You can use isopropyl alcohol to clean the board good. that will get rid of any residue. Just let everything dry for a couple of days before using it though. You want to make sure everything is good and dry before starting up.
rpmucha23
in the air540 case, i didn't have my GPU's installed yet, so all the coolant went down.... into the lci slots, but also worried about the puddles on top of the hard drives. I ran to grab a tshirt as fast as i could to soak it up, but i'm worried about the any type of vent hole or something where liquid may have gotten inside. peanutz94
Hard drives should be fine. Just let everything dry good . If by chance the drives did get damaged you can submit an RMA request and ask for a damage claim form. But that would mean you would need to return the cooler to Corsair instead of Fry's then. rpmucha23
new system build, so no data yet. just kinda of a let down. after buying a 800d, 600t, air540, h50, h70, h80i, force120, over 40 sticks of vengeance, hx1000, ax1200, ax750, gs600, cx430, 1500 headset.... I've always associated corsair with quality, and to have this happen within minutes of opening the box, has made me second guess blindly grabbing corsair off the shelf. i know every brand has a bad item, but i can't help thinking about it now. wytnyt
know how you feel as ive been there many think i stand by corsair at all costs but id be their biggest critic if they hadnt treated me right in the past while most unfortunate to happen, corsair still out shines most
rpmucha23
when i bought my 800D the sata backplane was shot from the get go. i did get sent out an upgraded sata6 backplane right away, bought a force120 to show my support. i'm just in a crap mood now. Just spent the last hour being uber paranoid with an air compressor, contact cleaner, and a roll of towels.
wa3pnt
Having dealt with FRY's Electronics on occasion, I have to ask if the unit that you purchased had one of their "returned" or "reduced" tags on the packkaging. FRY's is famous for just putting returned items back on the shelf, regardless of why they were returned. RodeoGeorge
rpmucha23
it was still shrink wrapped and sealed, but now that i rechecked the box, it says that its refurbished in a tiny little sticker, although it looks like a sticker that corsair put there, and a 90 day warranty sticker. ****, that bastard said that they were "on sale" wasn't used though, the square TIM patch on the cold plate was intact, hell its still mostly intact, i didn't even get a chance to make contact except for a small portion of it. i guss thats what i get for being too impatient for waiting for amazon prime 2 day. It's the risk you have to assume when you go with liquid cooling. My own personal experience caused me revert to air cooling. I can live with a little more fan noise although some air coolers on the market today are very quiet and do a very good job as well.

rpmucha23
by the way op,post your findings k? Motherboard is really flakey. will not recognize certain USB ports, running extremely slow. Like 15mins from power button to desktop. everything is choppy. It will randomly just lockup, and when it does the GPU's go full fan speed. Trying to make adjustments in the bios sometimes just makes entire system power off like i pulled the cord from the wall. I can't pin point the problem. temps are all find, its not over clocked yet. i tested the SSD & HDD's, and they seem fine, and they bench at or near where they are supposed to. i know the PCI slots were dry and clean, even the in-between the slot connectors, and the motherboard. But i think its the X58/IOH chip under the heatsink, it "caught" the majority of the spill. Kinda getting fed up with it all. I don't know if i can file a damage claim now because i returned the unit to Fry's for a H110, because all their H100i are refurbs, they don't have any New stock. (Well, they had 1 thats not refurb, but it was an open box return) Part of me wants to file the claim, but this was a backup machine (MSI Big Bang XPower + i7-950), for me to run the R9-290X's on air until Koolance gets their water blocks out, and then the cards get transferred into the full water loop machine. I think i'm just going to suck it up, and write it off as crap luck.
rpmucha23
You knows whats even better. The brand new AX1200 i bought there at the same time, is DOA, and missing cables. Fry's re-shrink wrapped a return. F*cking lovely.

That's a good point. I, probably like you, am a compulsive upgrader and typically can't keep my hands off the computer's internals for more than a month. Normally, i get everything through Amazon, but i wanted to be up and running that day, and was too impatient to wait the 2 days for prime shipping. I have now learned my lesson and will be more patient in the future. Thank got i have my trusty HX1000 to fall back on for a few days.

I'm not sure if in this situation that this thread would be enough , or if they would require the unit in return. You could always contact CS and explain the situation and see what they have to say about it.
