stconquest
A friend recently purchased this drive: CSSD-F120GB3/RF2 The drives works fine except for one thing: It won't let him install the OS to that drive. I can't remember the exact message right now, I will post it later. He is using a MSI GT60: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152375 The computer reads the drive just fine. He is able to install programs, and move files to it. When he tries to install windows 7 onto it, it tells him that it can't be installed to that drive. I will come back with more info, and have him come to this thread. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.
Toasted
Ask your friend for the error message as that will help. Tried loading the chipset drivers during the install? Has he tried secure erasing the drive in Parted magic then create a primary partition in Diskpart?
stconquest
I missed him last evening, but I searched until I found the exact message. His error message is: "Windows7 cant install on GTP partition & Device Driver install missing". I do not believe he got to the point where win7 would even start to install. So no drivers for the mobo chipset were transferred to the ssd. If that is what you mean. He has the Corsair Toolbox. Would secure erase using the CT be the same, or is Parted Magic something I (or he) should look in to?
Toasted
Yes, the secure erase in the Toolbox is the same as Parted magic.
